Operetta and Musical Theatre Association
The Operetta and Musical Theatre Society (OMTB) is a professional creative organisation that brings together professionals and professional organisations in the field of operetta and musical theatre and advocates for their professional interests and social guarantees.
A natural person is recognised as a creative person if he/she meets the following conditions: he/she creates or interprets works of art in the fields mentioned in the Law – architecture, design, theatre, music, visual arts, dance, literature and cinematography; the works have been published in the last 3 calendar years; he/she is a member of a professional creative organisation (OMTB), or the person contributes to the development of professional art and culture through his/her creative activity, as assessed by experts of the Latvian OMTB.
The Operetta and Musical Theatre Society was founded on 14 September 2016 by 73 creatives. Anyone who supports the objectives of the Society, but is not involved in the professional field can also become an Associate Member.
Professional organisation
It is registered in the Register of Professional Societies and Foundations of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia and is a member of the Latvian National Music Council.
Social support
Involved in social support measures for creative operetta artists, including unemployment benefits and sickness benefits.
Cultural development
In cooperation with partner organisations, it is actively involved in promoting cultural and creative processes in Latvia, and contributes to the development of the operetta genre.
How to become a member?
Membership is open to any natural person or legal entity over the age of 18 who supports the objectives of the Society. To join the Society, an application addressed to the Board of Directors must be submitted with the recommendations of two members of the Society.
Real members
Natural persons with professional qualifications:
- Soloists, actors, singers, dancers, musicians and other artists working in state, municipal and independent theatres with at least 1 year’s experience
- Theorists and writers in the field of performing arts and music with at least 2 years’ experience
- Theatre directors, administrators and other theatre professionals with at least 3 years’ experience

Other supporters and interested parties:
- Natural persons who do not meet the criteria for full membership
- Legal persons
Honorary members
For special contributions to the development of operetta and musical theatre or other objectives of the Society:
- The title of Honorary Member may be conferred on an Executive Member
- An Associate Member may be awarded the title of Honorary Associate Member
- Granted by the Members’ Meeting
