The 2nd International Operetta Festival brought a joyful and loving atmosphere to Ikšķile, inviting operetta lovers to enjoy high-quality performances in several renovated and well-equipped venues – Ikšķile Stage, Ikšķile and Tīnūži Folk Houses, Municipal Hall and Ikšķile Evangelical Lutheran Church.
After the warm response of the first festival, Artistic Director Agija Ozoliņa-Kozlovska and her team created a broader and richer international programme, revealing the diversity of the operetta genre. Indulis Trapiņš, Chairman of the Ikšķile Municipality Council, proudly noted that investments in the cultural infrastructure of the municipality are now bearing rich fruit, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy high quality cultural events.
Festival director Valdis Lūriņš emphasised operetta’s special ability to express joy and love – values we long for at all ages. The festival’s appeal is based on its carefully selected programme, outstanding artists and special atmosphere, which together create an unforgettable cultural experience on the road to the revival of Latvian operetta.
