A particularly emotional and soulful charity concert “Soul Strings!” brought together the audience at the Ikšķile Lutheran Church, offering a programme of romantic compositions by outstanding Latvian, Russian and American composers. The concert featured a brilliant line-up of artists – soprano Sonora Vaice, mezzo-soprano Sabīne Krilova, tenor Emīls Klaužs and pianist Agija Ozoliņa-Kozlovska, as well as Amanda Patjanko, 4th grade student of Ikšķile Music and Art School, playing violin with Rimma Pudāne at the piano.
The concert culminated with a touching moment when the Latvian Operetta Foundation together with the Rotary Clubs of Ogre and Riga Dzintars presented a special gift – a full-size (4/4) violin by Latvian master of the “Golden Age” of violin making Voldemārs Lazdiņš to the young talented violinist Amanda Patjanko and the Ikšķile Music and Art School. Pastor Dzintars Laugalis and Dace Jansone, Head of the Ikšķile Culture Administration, addressed the audience.
The concert featured heartfelt music by Emils Dārziņš, Jāzeps Mediņš, Mikhail Glinka, Peter Tchaikovsky, Nikolay Rubinstein, Raimonds Danielpūrs and other composers, creating a special experience of spirituality and beauty in the historic church at Kalēju iela 1, Ikšķilė.
