The beautiful tradition of the Operetta Festival continued with an exciting “Waltz Evening” at the Ikšķile Open-Air Stage, where everyone could be enchanted by the waltz dance. This was a special opportunity for festival guests to become direct participants, not just spectators – after enjoying the artistic programme, the audience was invited on stage to dance to the world’s favourite tunes.
An uplifting and festive atmosphere was created by the Operetta Orchestra under the leadership of the talented conductor Guntars Bernātis, performing Johann Strauss’ classical waltzes and other romantic pieces. On the stage, where the Festival artists had recently performed, dancing couples were now whirling around, letting themselves be swept away by the magic of the music and the mood of the operetta.
Professional dancers added to the atmosphere of the evening, demonstrating the elegance of the waltz and inspiring less experienced dancers to join in. This warm and engaging event allowed festival-goers to fully experience the romantic spirit of the operetta world, ending the evening with an unforgettable experience and passing on the tradition of this classical dance form in a contemporary context.
