As part of the 3rd International Operetta Festival, Ikšķile Secondary School will host an exciting and educational theatrical adventure for children “Let’s Create Operetta!”. In this unique event, the younger generation will be able to creatively explore the different elements of the operetta genre, working in six specially created workshops with their favourite fairy tale and operetta characters.
Workshops
- Song workshop – children will learn the art of song with Karlsson
- Dance workshop – dances and movements will be staged under the guidance of Pauka and Šmauka
- Make-up workshop – children will learn make-up skills at Snow White and the Dwarfs
- Mask workshop – participants will transform into forest dwellers accompanied by Bremen musicians
- Speech workshop – Anna and Elza from “Ice Heart” will teach the art of speech
- Props workshop – children will make ruporters, boxing gloves and diadems with Munchausen
Children will work in small groups (maximum 10 children each) and each workshop will be 20 minutes. After learning new skills, the young artists will work together on the stage of the school’s auditorium to showcase their work – a small excerpt from the children’s play “Pauks un Schmauks”. Parents and other interested parties will also be able to watch this performance.
After the performance, children will have the opportunity to take photos with the characters and their new friends. Each participant will receive a special certificate and valuable gifts from the event sponsors, presented by the writer Nora Ikstena.
