During the 3rd International Operetta Festival, a special film lecture “Operetta Time” is organised in the hall of Ikšķile Municipality. This educational event offers a unique opportunity to watch operetta films from different eras for free during the day, highlighting the importance, value, development and diversity of the operetta genre throughout history.
The film lecture is designed to broaden the audience’s understanding of the operetta genre and its transformation over time. Visitors will be able to see operetta screen adaptations from different historical periods and styles, gaining a deeper insight into this colourful and emotional genre of musical theatre.
The films in the programme reflect the historical development of the operetta genre, from classical Viennese operetta to contemporary interpretations. Each film will be accompanied by a short introduction providing context for its historical and artistic significance.
The film lecture is a great opportunity for both operetta lovers and those who want to get to know the genre better, to discover new facets of the rich world of operetta. The event complements the festival programme, offering not only live performances, but also a broader insight into the history and diversity of operetta.
