A wonderful summer evening with a bouquet of classical operetta’s most glorious melodies – that’s how you can sum up the climax of the 3rd International Operetta Festival, the Gala Concert under the open sky. The programme includes popular Austrian, Hungarian and French classical operettas that will delight every listener.
This special evening will feature melodies by Johann Strauss, Carl Zeller and Carl Milleker, as well as performances of compositions by the composers’ 100th anniversaries, Franz Suppé and Jacques Offenbach. The concert will feature outstanding soloists from different countries, the Operetta Orchestra and dancers under the direction of Atvars Lakstīgalas.
On stage you will see a parade of international stars: the Austrian operetta singers David Hoysack and Elisabeth Jarman, the Italian soprano Anta Jankovska, Kaunas Musical Theatre soloists Ingrid Kazemekaite, Marija Arutiunova and Andrius Apsega, as well as Latvian favourites Sonora Vaice, Irma Pavari, Laura Puren, Emils Kivlenieks and Nauri Indzer.
The Gala Concert promises to be the highlight of the summer, combining the elegant genre of operetta with the romance of summer, offering exquisite arias, sparkling duets and magnificent dance scenes – everything that characterises the inimitable charm and magic of operetta.
