Let our eyes shine!

A fun programme of operettas

Duration: 120 min
Language: Latvian
Premiere: 18/10/2014

The Opérésas programme – colourful as autumn leaves, light and cheerful as dandelion fluff, sparkling as champagne! Operetta in all its forms – good humoured duets, solo singing, dancing, the musically captivating masterpieces of the operetta greats – F. Lehar, J. Strauss, I. Kalman, N. Dostal.

You will hear the musically enchanting pages of operettas staged at the Riga Musical Theatre – both the audience’s favourites: “The Count von Luxembourg”, “The Gypsy Baron”, “La Bayadere”, “The Circus Princess”, excerpts from “Clevie”, and, looking into the future, “The Merry Widow” and “Judith”.

“This music is for joy and celebration, for fun and the flight of the soul beyond everyday worries, and will be familiar to operetta lovers. We want to give the listener a joy that makes the soul sing and the eyes sparkle!” says Agija Ozoliņa-Kozlovska, Director of the Latvian Operetta Foundation.

The concert features Sonora Vaice or Inga Šļubovska, Ingus Pētersons or Miervaldis Jenčs, Andris Lapiņš, as well as young vocalists who are having their first experience in the operetta genre. The operetta orchestra is conducted by Guntars Bernāts and directed by Jānis Kaijaks.
