With this concert programme we would like to remind the audience of the enchanting and always popular operetta music, so rarely heard in Latvia for more than 20 years, as well as to invite them to listen to the sounds of Niko Dostal’s future operetta “Cleves”.
The concert will feature the outstanding soloists Sonora Vaice, Ingus Pētersons, Nauris Indzeris, Juris Ādamsons, as well as young talented artists who will have their first encounter with operetta – Laura Teivāne and Emīls Kivlenieks from Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and Marlēna Keine from Tallinn Conservatoire.
They will perform a wide repertoire of operetta music:
- Count Orlovsky’s toast from Strauss’s operetta “The Bat”
- Vilja’s song from Lehár’s operetta “The Merry Widow”
- Maritza and Tasilo from Kalman’s operetta “Maritza”
- Erminio singing from Milleker’s operetta “Gasparone”

The orchestra will perform pieces from Dostal’s operetta “Clevie” and the polka from Strauss’ operetta “Pizzicatto”. Concert-goers will also enjoy dance performances – the candlelight dance from Kalman’s operetta “La Bayadere” and Strauss’s waltz.
The concert will be hosted by actor Zigurds Neimanis, who will have a lot of fun and will share incidents from the history of operetta. The musical presentation of the concert will be provided by the Operetta Orchestra under the baton of conductor Guntars Bernātis.
The concert is organised by the Riga Musical Theatre in collaboration with the Latvian Operetta Foundation.
